The club started in its present form in 1997. Originally, it was a men’s team playing volleyball in the local SADVA (Southampton And District Volleyball Association) League. This team was formed from employees and friends of Roke Manor Research in Romsey, who still partially sponsor us to this day. During the early days the men’s team was successful at winning the local league, but this was followed by several years of decline when older players left the team. In the mid 90’s there was a resurgence when they won the SADVA League Cup. At about this time, a decision was made to convert the team into the club and several other successes were achieved in the SADVA League. Today we boast two Men’s and a Ladies team, who represent the club in SADVA, and a current membership of over 30 people. But why stop there.
Our aim is to teach and promote a good standard of competitive volleyball, in a friendly atmosphere. We welcome all levels of players from beginners and improvers to National League Standard.
Our club season starts in September when members are asked to pay an annual subscription, currently £10. Members then pay a discounted rate at training sessions. They will also be eligible to play in the local league.
To become a member you will need to attend the club for one month paying the nightly subscriptions by cheque or cash to the treasurer. To entice you along to our training night and become a potential member we make the first two weeks free.
We have a unique way of arranging our finances, where members pay monthly in arrears. Members receive their monthly statements on the first Tuesday of every month.
